first of all - this product claims to be for "snarled and confused, fine hair" and it says to use it after shampooing. i decided to use it *as* a shampoo, my first venture into the land of co-wash. heres the ingredient list for your viewing pleasure:

Rust Sensories invisible Hibiscus & Kukui Foaming Detangler
water
olealkonium chloride - surfactant (may provide conditioning to the hair)
cocamidopropyl dimethylamine propionate - antistatic agent/surfactant
cetrimonium chloride - quat/conditioner
panthenol - humectant
hibiscus sabdariffa extract
kukui (aleurites moluccana) nut oil
dimethicone copolyol meadofoamate - moisturizing foaming agent derived from oil
hydrolyzed wheat protein/dimethicone copolyol acetate - humectant
dimethicone copolyol - quat/emollient/moisturizer
acrylamidopropytrimonium chloride/acrylamide copolymer - film former
hydroxyethylcellulose - thickener
fragrance
propylene glycol - humectant
citric acid - pH control/chelating agent
tetrasodium EDTA
various preservatives
color

As you can see, it contains some surfactants and a small amount of lather agent, as well as a good amount of conditioners!! well, my hair is fresh after being relatively stripped from a new clarifying shampoo a few days ago - so i jump into the shower and pour some of this stuff in my hand. (it smells GREAT.) it says this has *Compressed Formula Technology* so you need 30%-50% less product to get the same result... yeah ok. its very watery stuff.

i put it directly on my head. mistake number 1. i start rubbing away at my scalp, attempting to find a bubble around there somewhere. (this is the foaming, stuff, right??) rubbing, rubbing... uh oh. no foam. not so much as a bubble. i dont want to use any MORE - and yet im tempted to hit the shampoo - but im doing an experiment - so i persevere. i rub some more, still no bubbles. by then it has soaked through the length (i think... its hard to tell... ) so i rinse and meekly grab my trusty mane n tail conditioner.
use about 3/4 the normal amount (im so paranoid of greasies, and i expected some foam, humph) rinse. detangling was a snap. it dried in a hurry, (and i helped with my fryer) and turned out:
volumized, thick feeling - thank you film formers
soft
shiny
not tangly
and my roots dont feel greasy - they feel clean!

i was mystified, so i took the bottle to the sink, squirted some in my hand, and rubbed like mad. still no bubbles. but i did produce a white film between my fingers that if i squint looks a bit like foam. so i have to come to the conclusion that i will use this again, and perhaps rub it around before dumping it on my head. because it seems to get my hair clean, as well as adding a lot of extra conditioning! (and a bit of volume)
this might be a product to consider for CO-washers, although they still wont get any foam! at least you will be getting that clean feeling...

i like it! although they lied on the bottle, jeez.

well, i emailed Rusk about this products obvious lack of foam, (and misleading wording on the bottle) and all they really had to say was:
"We feel that Invisible has foaming qualities, in fact we get comments about it all the time, considering that most detanglers do not foam at all. Thank you for your email. "

okay... fine then. be that way! so i shampoo'd with it a second time, and conditioned with mane n tail, and my hair was nice... i really do like how thick it makes my hair - although i know its because of the film formers. this is the only product on my shelf that has acrylates in it, and when i use it i dont do my usual silicone-detangle so i dont get the silkiness im used to.
i oiled my ends, slept on it, and in the morning, well, my roots were a bit heavier that i normally like. so i wont be making this product a part of my normal routine, but because it has a scent that is so utterly *divine*, (and the smell shines through any conditoner i dump on top!) and because it makes my hair so nice and volumized, i will definetely be using it as a poo when i want to wear my hair down, or for special occasions.

if anyone sees this when they go shopping, *do not* go over and smell it, because you will be tempted to buy it!! :DD

I might try the Rusk Smoother instead.

Thanks for the reply & review :D
