View Full Version : ANNE: i got my neck waxed.
Karen April 22nd, 2003, 02:34 PM hey anne
i don't know if you remember, but a long time ago (maybe a year already) i posted on LHC about my neck/nape hairs and how i was letting them grow out and they were driving me nutz. at the time, you told me to wax them off, which i would have never thought of.
anyone else who is reading this: i am a hairy beast. the hairs wrap around to the front of my neck and look stupid.
well, after much stalling (trying to see if they would grow out and behave, which they never did. only were about 1" long after 2+ years of growing)and having a hard time finding a salon who would even do such a thing. i finally  got my neck waxed this morning in prep. for the wedding and WOW! what a difference. my neck looks 10 times longer and i feel much more confident about my appearance.
i am so excited. thanks anne!

in this picture, you can kind of see my neck hairs wrapping around to the front. i couldn't have my wedding pictures turning out stupid because of my updo showing this crazy hair.
snippet April 22nd, 2003, 04:04 PM Oh the excitement and preparation for the wedding! I'm glad the waxing worked for you. Your pic is so cute! Where did you get the waxing done? Was it painful?
Poledra April 22nd, 2003, 04:35 PM What a cute pic!

You're marrying a gerbil? I thought that was illegal in most states.

Karen April 23rd, 2003, 05:08 AM he is not a gerbil. it's a guinea pig.
and marrying a guinea pig is legal here in Illinois. 8)
Karen April 23rd, 2003, 05:21 AM i ended up getting the waxing done at an ulta3 salon. i usually get my eyebrows waxed at the JC Penney's salon. ( I know Penney's sounds a bit tacky, but the gal there does a great job, i can get in on little to no notice, and it's only $10 vs. $12-15 elsewhere)
Anyway, it hurt like a b+tch! The estitician (sp?) had to wax the same spots over and over because she said the hair was growing all different directions. I took ibuprofin and antacid beforehand, which helped a little.
I think I am definately NOT ready for a bikini wax! :D
laurel April 23rd, 2003, 05:44 AM Ow, I bet it hurt. That nape area is so sensitive!
btw, you and your guinea pig friend are adorable! :)

oops, my bad! Apologies to Mr. Guinea Pig.

I hope you and your guinea pig have a long, happy life together. :jestor:

Anne April 26th, 2003, 06:40 PM Oh Karen, hugs! Did I suggest that to you? I did do that a couple of times but it hurt so much I haven't done it since and after those two times my neck hairs grew in finer (I think).
You are sooo pretty in your picture and I don't think your neck hairs are at all ugly or stupid looking. I know what you mean though about thinking that they are. I'm over thinking that about mine now. My husband likes the little wispies on my neck....he gives me neck kisses all the time ;)
You really are so pretty and I feel bad now that I spread my neck hair obsession to you  but I'm glad you're happy...but don't trip out on it too much :D from your picture I would say you don't have to worry.
Cowgal April 28th, 2003, 03:12 PM Oowwww... I know that had to hurt.
Gosh, you look SO pretty in that picture. Smoochie is one lucky man. And that's one lucky piggie to have such a loving mama. :)
I didn't think the hairs looked bad either. I do believe you when you say it makes you neck look longer now though. It's amazing the difference a few hairs make...
Karen April 29th, 2003, 06:03 AM  thanks. you all are too nice.
i have a problem though, i already have stubble, big time. The Smooch is going to have to shave me the day before the wedding, i think. I don't think it will be long enough to wax again before i leave.
