Since I'm a natural blonde I thought it would be interesting for all the naturals blondes who come here to know about each other. I mean, blonde can be a complicated  color if it's natural, so we could help each other with all kinds of things. So come on, who's a natural blonde?
By the way: I LOOOOOVE Sheer Blonde by John Frieda!!!

I have a sprinkling of silver now and mainly want to keep my blonde in top condition and color with out resorting to highlighting or bleaching so any ideas are welcome. I have tried John Frieda but didn't care for them as they don't come in my color range

Natural dark blonde with about 5 million different variations. The ends are lighter due to sun exposure.

The crown of my hair is highlighted a lighter shade. I think my natural color is similar to Feye's whose hair looks so dreamy that color. The times I've grown my color out I just felt like I looked BLAH, like my hair just looked dirty that color against my face. I'm going for a bit darker blonde with my highlights now but that's only as long as I only have a few not very visible gray hairs. Then I go to the bottle!

I was born a strawberry blonde, am a natural med. wheat/champaign color blonde, and have just darkened my Barbie buttery blonde to a nice warm honey blonde (out of breath now).

The honey blonde is pretty close to my natural color just a little warmer and very close to a strawberry blonde in the right light. I could probably fall inbetween an ash and a gold color naturaly (explains the wheat and champaign but just sounds better than ashy and gold).

The honey blonde made my skin look so much better. Not to mention my eyes stand out better.

I love the John Freda Products too. I have the Gold Rush hair lotion with sparkles of gold and a gold sparkley palmade. I also use Clairol Shimmering Lights in Gold to brighten my hair.

Great idea :D

I'm a natural blonde who gets a little added "oomph" from the highlights her hairdresser provides! :D I had light blonde hair when I was younger, but as I've gotten older it's turned more to a medium to dark blonde shade. It has quite a few highlights in it now, though - some are from the hairdresser and some are from a recent trip to a Florida beach.

I've been using the Frieda Beach Blonde products, and love them. To me, they just smell like summertime.

Here's a pic of me with my baby niece, taken back in January.

I've always been a natural light ash-gold blonde, and I know there is such a color because it says so on the bottle I've used to lift my gradually darkening hair color in recent years, LOL! Unfortunately though, my hair was never able to grow past bs length because breakage and new growth cancelled each other out. :( So, now my choice seems to be long hair or very light hair. Monty, I'll take the long hair behind door number 2 :D

Is there nothing a confirmed blonde-hair-lover can do to counteract the dye of time? Well, I'm on the verge of a henna adventure. Stay tuned...........

My hair has always been darkish blonde until I get going
in the summer sun, then it takes on heavy highlights.
I think there are quite a few ladies on this board with
this same type of hair. It's not really blonde, but not
really brown, so hard to fit into a check box of yes or no.

When I was younger it was even lighter, but nowadays
it seems more in streaks of blondish browinsh.
I have so many colors in my hair naturally that I don't
consider myself a brownie or a blondie.

Many people consider blonde to be the natural whitish
color, very light. My oldest son has verrry light hair, when he was
little it was darned near snow white. Everyone called him cute little
names because of it. Now that he is older, he puts all that crap in
his hair like goop and gel that makes it look darker until he gets out of the shower.

That is what I have always thought of
when someone says BLONDE. But nowadays there are so many
chemicals, hair sprays and other things, well, heck, everyone
can be a blonde if they want to.

I don't think any more or any less of a person who colors their
hair. If it makes them feel good, hey, super!
If it makes them look good, even better.

Heres to all women of any hair color, no matter
how the color came about! :)

Karen Marie, I think, your hair is definitely blonde. If you look at those hair color charts at the drugstore, the color they call dark blonde is a lot darker than your hair, it's actually so dark that I would call it medium brown... But yours is definitely blonde. Oh, and I know that sun kind of effect, too. It annoys me a little bit because when the winter comes to an end, I have two hair colors: medium blonde roots and very light blonde ends...

I'm not sure I understand why you're hesitant to consider yourself a blonde unless it's because others may not perceive you as one. Or could it have something to do with blonde jokes LOL

From everything I've ever heard you say, you are most definately a blonde.

However my conclusion of you are a blonde may have something to do with the fact I've never heard you mention a problem with a mustache  or having dark hair on your arms since these would be signs of being a brunette. Though not all brunettes have mustaches or dark arm hair, blondes never have either.

Actually I think your hair and mine are extremely close in natural color. You can see my all natural underneath hair in this photo and decide for yourself:

Gorgeous updo! I like yours down better, but that updo is samshing! (As my British pals would say!)

And KM, I would definitely class YOU as a blonde!

I used to be a blonde, it darkened up in my 30's.

LOL on the moustache and dark arm hair thing....
I have always had light whitish hair on my arms, but
as a child the hair on my arms seemed very long...
so I shaved it, ha ha! I remember other kids teasing me
about having long blonde hair on my arms, it was horrible.
Then came the dark eyebrows, which didn't help, because
my hair was so opposite my eyebrows, which I later used
a straight razor on because they grew in almost like a uni brow.
My brother ended up with one, not me, thank goodness!

Umm, while I don't have a moustache so to speak,
I do have what I call one, and I never really notice it
until one of my kids notices it in the sunshine in the car when
I'm on the side of the sun and it just sort of brings my moustache
into the light. I feel them staring at me and I say WHAT?

I hesitate to tell you that one time I thought I might
put Nair Hair remover on my lip so it would not shine in the sun.
Word of warning....NEVER do this!

Oh, yes, Martine, your hair color very much reminds me of
my own in many, many of your pictures.
In fact, the bun collage you have? Hubby saw that and
he thought it was my hair at first,
he even asked where I got the pretty bun cover, which
I have been dying to order one of, but chicken out when I fear
it might be too small.

But....I got to thinking, I don't have super duper thick hair,
or wavy or curly hair. All those wonderful features contribute
to how much bun you have, and since my hair is straight and
about medium, I may be able to pull it off!

So if I order one, you're to blame, lady! ;)

Here are your beautiful buns:

http://www.wuvie.net/martines_buns.jpg

You know what would be fun? As soon as my brother
sends my camera (?) I will try to mock each of your buns
and put the photos side by side just like yours.
I have a silver Mohawk Fic. clip, so will try to come as close
as I can to your styles, though I must confess I've not even
tried to use it, I just flat gave up and left it in the box.

I received a package in the mail today, hoping it
was my camera, but no. Perhaps soon.

LOVE that bun pic of yours!

Martine
February 22nd, 2003, 10:59 AM
Your buns compared to my buns! LOL I hope you'll do that!

So you found your Ficcare. I remember asking you about it because I knew you weren't fond of it and I was going to make you an offer for it. I just couldn't remember if yours was the silver with gold, or the gold with silver Mohawk. I'm not even sure if it comes in gold with silver, maybe it only comes with silver as the main color with gold as the accent. Anyway that's the one I want to get next but I have to locate one first.

And on the subject of haircolor, the haircolor in the Accolady painting is more the color I'm trying to go for now which is darker than what I normally do with my highlights. I'm just trying a few things today, strand tests, etc.

And Rob, thank you for the compliment.

I have a mustache and arm hair(long) colored golden brown. I have to admit they have darkened with age and I do bleach out the mustache every once in awhile. the arm hair is bleached out with a mix of body lotion and peroxide applied when I remember too. My brows are dark blonde; my hair is med streaky blonde

I'm a natural medium to light ash blonde with a little gold or honey color mixed in. Yea and some grays coming in too. Bleck!! I have had all over color and then high lights. But have been going natural since Sept 2001 and I like my natural color. I'm at the point in growing out there I have quite a bit of all natural but the bun looks a little more gold then the rest. That bugs me but I'll live with it. I may high light or have a color weave some time in the future if the gray gets to bugging me but so far so good. Tried neutral henna about 2 years ago and didn't like it at all. so no more of that.

I am a natural blonde. I am a University Student (Sydney) studying Psychology. I plan to write a book on 'Blonde History', and the experience of 'blondeness' - with psychology, and prejudice. :( I am Swedish-English in origin, and a great number of Australians are sunny-blondes. I would be interested to here others thoughts about their 'blondeness'.

Good Subject Kati ! - Emma-Gai.

As far as colour is concerned, I believe 'Dancing barefoot' and I, discussed our colour to be quite similar.

Well mine is a Medium blond, with lighter on the top and darker underneath. I have slight redish tinge that comes out if I wear a certain color of purple or in some light. It used to be lighter when I was younger though.

Natural blonde here ;)

I was born strawberry blonde and my natural color is kind of a light to medium beige color.
I color a light golden blonde now.

As far as 'blondness' is concerned I still think there is such a stereotype. I mean I have seen people I know aren't real redheads or real brunettes but the stigma with color seems to always be on blondes who color.
That's just my personal peeve.

Yet another blonde-head here. Although, I'm not sure sometimes if it's blonde, or brown, or red...depends on the lighting/time of year/products/the alignment of the planets as compared to the lifecycle of honeybees...hehe, just kidding, but it does seem sometimes like there is NO rhyme or reason to it.

I think that blonde hair is translucent and this contributes to the color and shade change

Natural blonde here. I have no idea what to describe it except for golden blonde. It's darkened after my second pregnancy. I liked my before pregnancy color alot better than what I've got now. sigh.

Natural blonde here :D A sort of copper blonde I guess… Middle blonde with lots of red shine to it. Although all my hairs seem to have their own different colour- ranging from almost black to light blonde with lots of red strands :?
It’s actually a light variation of the “leverpostej”-colour that it so common in Scandinavia, that’s somewhere between blonde and light brown. (Named after a meat paste in a light brown :D )
I love being blonde! I’m a tall, blonde Danish girl with a really fair skin colour. Heheh 8)
There’s something sort of innocent about it… A really “sunny” colour

Ohhhh just found this thread :D .

Natural blond here. When I was little my hair was that glow-in-the-dark blond where my eyebrows and hair were lighter than my skin (not an easy feat as I am also very fair-skinned).

Now my hair is--mmmhhh well, hard to describe. Most of my friends say it is light blond, but compared to when I was little it is so much darker; so I usually class it as medium.

My hair is having "shade" issues right now. There's a darker band of color where I was pregnant and then a lighter band for about 5-6 months postpartum, then back to it's normal color (somewhere between the two prior shades).

I like my hair, it usually doesn't give me any trouble and is fairly thick (for a blond anyway), but I get weary of explaining to people that this IS my natural hair-color. I just had friend I've known for 5 years act surprised when she found out that I don't color my hair. I've finally given up trying to convince people and figure that they can just believe whatever they want ;) .

My hair does tend to suck up impurities rather easily. Water that is heavy in iron gives it a reddish cast, and I have to avoid chlorine like the plague!

Question: Are there any other blonds out there who tend to get the "greasies" rather easily?

Accolady: LOL! I have fairly long hair on my arms too! Thank goodness it's very light in color!

Interesting thread.

Another blonde here. I've given up trying to describe my color. I just let it speak for itself. Call it what you want. The only term I hate is "dirty blonde."

It does tend to sterotype me though, most people assume I'm an airhead or snob when they first meet me. I've actually had them confess later and say they were wrong. In college, I would wear my glasses instead of contacts for a week when encountering a new professor--found it made a "good student" impression.

Yep, major greasies problems. I think it is the combination of oily skin and hair that easily shows grease problems.

I never like being called dishwater blonde.
How can that be kind?
I miss my very light blonde from childhood so much that I have always highlighted it. Now that I am coming out of all of the damage from last time I am going to try to go natural from here on out.

Yes, my roots can get very greasy. My grandma who was a natural blonde had greasy roots but so does my brunette mother. I guess it's a heredity thing :?

I also have what I call a lot of Down on my arms. I think I read that term in a story and asked my Mom what it meant. She said it meant that there was a lot of hair on the arms.
So I have always been grateful to have been a blonde for that reason ;)
However, it is really pretty when the light hits it and it sparkles :D

Nice to be bonding with some other blonds!

Natural blonde here! Well actually I was born with red hair...I don't mean a red "cast" or streaks...full on red. But then I moved to Colorado at age 4 and it took on a brown. Now that I'm back in Cali it's strawberry blonde and has been for years I think it will always be strawberry blonde from here on out.

I was a light blonde as a kid, then my hair darkened, but is still the lightest of my siblings. I recently colored with semipermanent "light brown" but it has faded a lot now.
I decided I won't color again as the roots blend so well with the neutral color, which is probably dark blonde now.. Before I colored I'd used lemon and chamomile which eventually gave me a very golden color, more golden than my hair naturally is.

There is the issue of darker roots and lighter ends on long blonde hair, and the fact that blonde hair looks dirty faster.

I like my hair darker, but I don't like coloring my hair too much.

If the lack of moustache and white arm hair are indicators of a blonde then there's no denying that I'm a blonde. My arm hairs are silvery white and show up funny (there are a lot of long hairs ;) ) against a tan.

Hello :)

I just found this thread!!! I, too, am a natural blonde. I was platnium as a small child & it has become darker with age..... It is somewhere between medium / dark golden bonde - has some nice natural highlights, which really come out in the summer ..... I am thinking about highlighting it, though...now that she summer sun is gone :( - it just looks a bit 'drab' to me......

lemon juice can be drying that is why I suggest mixing it with hair conditioner- use a small bottle and using a rich conditioner add about a tablespoon of juice-shake well and leave on hair while you attend to your other shower duties. the lightening effect will be gradual- I don't do this on a regular basis anymore because it will lighten my hair too much

lightens a little but mix it with a rich conditioner- I never noticed any stripping action from it
