Well one day I'd like to have a couple kids, and this may sound weird for someone my age, but I've been trying to think of names I'd like for them.
Be 100% honest with your opinions, please.

For a boy: Jonas
For a girl: Rane

I like Jonas.

I don't like Rane. It is pronounced like Rain or Renee? It also reminds me of the spanish word for frog.

For a handy guide to "what not to name your kid", check out the Utah Baby Namer (http://wesclark.com/ubn/).

I'm sorry to say I dislike both names. I don't mean to offend anyone, but Jonas makes me think of an old guy. It doesn't have a lot of energy. I like Rain or Rayne (pronounced the same) but I don't know how you pronounce Rane. If it sounds the same as Rain, it seems like it should be spelled that way. If it is pronounced like Renee, a name I also don't like, it should be spelled w/ 2 e's.

This is just my opinion. There's no accounting for taste.

I agree, this is my complaint about the name Rane. If we are already confused just by seeing it here, think of how many times this girl have to explain how to pronounce or spell her name.

Jonas is nice.

Rane would forever be explaining how her name is pronounced. If Rain, it's beautiful, but the name Renee I don't find particularly attractive.

Yeah, it's pronounced Rain. You guy's are right, I'd probably have it spelled Rain. I don't like Renee either.

Also, I haven't made up my mind at all. These are two that just caught my eye. If you have any good suggestions, that'll be great as well.
Sorry for double post.

I'm not crazy about either of them, although I think I could like Rane if it were spelled differently.

I like Jonas but am not keen on Rane.

Jonas seems intellectual. I like it. I'm neutral on Rane. It doesn't do much for me.

Jonas isn't my style but I can't think of anything really bad about it. If you like it, go for it.

Rane, however, I hate. I have an unusual first name. It's one letter away from a much more common name but it doesn't sound the same and it's got a completely different origin (not that I've given this any thought ). My name is constantly mispronounced, mispelled and corrupted in every way possible. I accept that I have to spell it out and pronounce it for people, who will then misspell and misprounounce it anyway...but yeah, it's annoying. Go with Rain or Raine. The uniqueness comes from the name itself, not the kreighaetyvve spelling. My :twocents:.

I like Jonas alot. Being raised Catholic, I grew up knowing children in my Parochial school with saints' names.

I don't care for Rane, because I can't relate it to anything. I believe names should have definition, as if one is naming a child as an example of something. Where I live now, some people carry on a family member's name within the child's first or middle name.

The name Rane made me think of a person I am acquainted with, Rayanne, and I'm not sure that's the correct spelling. She is very beautiful and unique. I've realized that all the Kims I know or have known are or have all been very beautiful, as well.

I don't know why, but my favorite female name is Mary. I know a few Marys and they are all really lively, exceptional women.

Well call me a fruit cake but I like both names, and the spelling as well.

Rane is adorable, but Rayne would also work. I like unusual names.
