View Full Version : Growing out bangs

I finally decided to grow out my bangs. I always think my forehead is high and needs them but my husband said that I look good without them. So this gives me courage to try growing out my bangs. After all, my hair was at its longest when I didn't have bangs. I will have to see if GM's bang theory works for me.

Anyone else starting to grow theirs out?

Mine aren't so much bangs as stylish wispy things that the hairdresser thought would look modern-- they are hideous and heinous and I hate them! Just when I get a cute style, like today's fishtail braid, they come flying out the side and dangle in the way. I have written a "Hair Manifesto" to keep in my wallet forbidding me to cut bangs or get layers ever again.

Good luck in your bang growth venture, RedButterfly! You'll have to keep us posted on the trials and tribulations.

Yep, well not just starting but I've been working on it. My dad convinced me from childhood that I had to have bangs. But since I started letting them grow out my hair frames my face in a much more flattering hairstyle.

You grow RBR!!!

I started growing out my bangs 2 years ago. My hair is wavy, and it was just too hard to keep the bangs from curling up! They are just past chin length now & would be even longer had I not trimmed a few times. Just long enough to drive me crazy, but that's what barrettes are made for. 8)

Me too - bu I'm not sure it counts since I am only at 17.5+". I just can't stand them in my face anymore and I usually don't like the transition of bangs to longer hair...good luck...g

Yep, I'm growing out my bangs after years and years of wearing them. I know that the theory of bangs trying to catch up to the rest of the hair sounds silly, but I must say that my bangs have grown at least twice as fast as the rest of my hair this past year. They are now just below my collar bone and catching up fast. It's amazing! :o It took me awhile to get used to looking at myself without bangs, but I really do prefer the way I look now.

Be patient and good luck growing them out; it can get irritating at certain lengths, I remember! :P

I've recently started growing mine out. At first they were very short, due to a little scissor happy 'accident' of mine. So short, in fact, that they stood straight up from my forehead! :D (It wasn't that bad, because very short bangs were in fashion at the time, and strange enough I received spontaneous compliments on them).

Now my bangs are the length of 'regular' bangs, reaching to my eyebrows. But I mostly wear them off my face, with the help of a little aloe vera gel. I've blended them in quite nicely with my layers, and thinned them out a little. So they're not that much of a bother for me.

One thing I don't like is that my bangs grow much slower than the rest of my hair (they always have). It will take ages before they grow out!

It is good to hear that there are others who are also growing out bangs. We will have to support each through the good and bad days. :)

Growing out bangs here, too! I've had long bangs almost all my life and now are about 1 inch below the eyebrows. they grow incredibly fast... my hair is bra-strap length, and I thik it won't take longer than 18 months for my bangs to reach a point where they don't look like bangs anymore but more like side layers. :o) Oh, by the way, for those of you that are blondes: Buy John Frieda's Sheer Blonde Spotlight Hi-beam Glosser and Power Detangler. Nothing makes bangs stay out of your face better than that stuff plus it won't make your hair look greasy!

Thanks for the tip. I will definitely need something to keep the bangs out of my eyes!

I grew mine out a long time ago.

I just started combing my hair to the side and sort of combing my bangs up and back in a wave and letting it dry that way.

My bangs blended in and it made my hair look like it was one length.
