How much of the hair-helping vitamins do you take? At what time of the day do you take them?

Biotin
MSM
Silica
Evening Primrose oil
Flaxseed oil
(anything else)

Do you notice a difference in your hair while on the vitamins? What do they do for you?

Thanks :D

My multi-vitamin includes 3,000 mcg of biotin, and I take it in 2 doses. Usually one at lunch and one after dinner. I take 3-4 grams of MSM every day along with my vitamins. The MSM definitely helps decrease shedding.
Not sure what effect the biotin has had on growth. I don't measure my hair, and have not been very good lately about taking vitamins consistently.

My hair vit contains 2000mcg biotin split into three does, breakfast, lunch and dinner. My multi has 150mcg of biotin too, which I take with dinner.

MSM - I take 1500mg a day, half with breakfast and half with dinner.

I take starflower oil instead of EPO because it contains more GLA, I take 1000mg with dinner.

I take fish oil instead of flaxseed because it is more cost effective, and I take 1000mg with dinner.

I take 500mg of horsetail, at 7% extraction, also with dinner. My multi also contains a small amount.

For those of you who take horsetail - what benefits have you noticed? How long did you take it before you noticed?

Here's what I take, all in the morning except where noted:

MultiVitamin
Biotin - 5mg
Flaxseed Oil - 1000mg
Evening Primrose Oil - 1300mg
Vitamin E - 800 I.U. (Dr's orders - 1/2 in the morning, 1/2 in the evening)
Calcium Citrate - 1000mg (1/2 in the morning, 1/2 in the evening)
MSM - 1000mg

I was taking 500mg of silica per day, but stopped after a year because I didn't notice much of a difference.

1 multivitamin - 2 doses/day
MSM - 2 caps/500 mg. (for joint problems)
1 oscal tab (calcium is good for the bones)
1 acidophilus - 3x/week (for recurring yeasties)

I don't think my vitamin routine is so hair-centered, but it has made the condition of my hair much nicer over time.

MSM 4000 mg
I also take a b complex, cal-mag combo, DMAE, CoQ10, alpha lipoic acid, vit c, a good multi, zinc
Yes, I have noticed a difference. Before I was lucky to get 1/4", now I average 1/2".

*Morning
1 Natrol Prenatal
1 Brewer's Yeast 500mg
1 Flax Oil Gel 1000mg
1 MSM 750 mg
1 Earthrise Chollera
1 Vitamin World Ester C with bioflavonoids 500mg
1 Lecithin 400mg
2 1000mcg Biotin

*Afternoon or Evening
1 Country Life Hair Maximized
1 Country Life Super Biotin
1 Vitamin World Brewer's Yeast 5000mg
1 Earthrise Chollera
1 750mg MSM (only when I feel I need extra)
1 Silica Complex
1 500mg Evening Primrose gel
1 Lecithin 400mg

*Protein Drink
Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex Chocolate Powder
I had used the Pro Complex protein drink for the first time this Spring/Summer It seemed to really kick start some extra growth (3/4 - 1 compared to my ave of 1/2 - 3/4)
I can tell a difference in my hair without it.

Of course my routine varies from adding a little extra of one vit one day to maybe not taking one another day.
I have been on a variation of Bargello's routine since April/May 01' and feel it has only benifited not only my growth but my over all health.

I also feel that eating balanced, exercise and cutting down on stress (or how stress affects you) helps too.

So after 2 years I can say I truely believe in what supplements can do.
A healthy inside gives you a healthy outside :)

2 GNC Ultra Nourishair Dietary Supplements a day and

MSM 1000 mg
Evening Primrose oil 500mg
Flaxseed oil 1000 mg

I also try to take 1000 mg of calcium (can you say two TUMS?) a day

I just received my Nature's Plus Ultra Hair Plus in the mail and I will begin taking them when the Nourishair runs out.

I just started taking supplements since I joined this board so I don't know if anything good has happened yet. I stopped taking the MSM for awhile because I think it makes me sick but I started again because of increased shedding.

timely question amanda, thanks a bunch for posting it.

for past 2 days, i've been taking

gnc ultrahairnourish
biotin 3 mg
flax seed oil -1000 mg
multivit

i take this based on doctors advice. i'm deficient in calcium + vit e
vit e 400 iu
calcium/mag/zinc - 33% RDA each

i took all these at one go   after a breakfast smoothie.
and already feel like a patient. :( i dont like tablets :( and that tiny biotin definitley sucks! it makes me feeling like :puke:
i feel for my poor kidnies to filter out all these. this thought scared the hell out of me. and i've drunk water like crazy since morning - 14 cups today - because i'm feeling very dehydrated if i dont drink. oh no! i dont want to goto the loo again  i've also started working out again.

and i've ordered silica, epo and msm too...shucks! how will i eat all those..

anne, i read in one of your posts that you need to check with your calendar on what vitamin to take .... can u share it here please.

Only zinc! About 15mg a day.

And, yes I have noticed a difference - my hair and fingernails grow faster and I don't have any white spots on my nails anymore.

I'm not really taking vitamins explicitly for my hair, though I do enjoy the benefits I seem to get from them. ^_^ (Decreased shedding, nice growth.)

I'm currently taking one multivitamin that has 100% of just 'bout everything except calcium, and 3 cal/mag/zinc supplements that're 33% of my RDA a pieace. I've thought about starting MSM or silica, but I'm having surgery soon and don't want to do aaaaaaaaaanything that might have a negative effect on that. Maybe after I heal. ;D
