Does anyone can vet-fruit.

I love canning everything. Figs/ tomatoes/ pears/ apples/ okra/ blackberries.

Would like to share, swap or learn from another canner.

I steam canned some applesauce I made last week. The only other time I was near a canner I was maybe 10 years old helping my mom can tomatoes!

But, last week with the applesauce was my first time by myself. I'm quite proud!

I have off and on for the past 30 years. I made apple butter a few weeks ago but just shoved it in the fridge. I am a devotee of the ball blue book, not nearly the size of the Encyclopedia of Gardening, but a Bible nonetheless and a compendium of all things jarred in the home.

My latest food preservation effort was roasting and bagging the sunflower seeds from the garden. I also dried some blueberries in my oven two years ago which was a kick. This year I am saving some seed for the first time ever, trying to grow plants under floating row cover for the second winter and storing green tomatoes.

Great job Terri!!

Nojomama You are a pro at this. I love the Ball Blue Book also. Maybe we can swap some recipes. Off to can MORE pears now. (I'm so tried of canning pears I don't know what to do)

LOL Well, if nothing blowing up and me not killing anyone makes me a pro, then ALRIGHT!! Yay! LOL

I had apples *almost* comin' out my ears last month. I got them free from a couple of different people. I froze some, dehydrated a TON and made some into applesauce and canned that.

It was fun! If I find pumpkins really cheap, then I'll cook some and can em. It's really gratifying to see your own handywork eaten by your family.

I love the Ball Blue Book too. Only can't find it. I think I loaned it to someone and don't remember who! I can get another one at walmart.

Great job Terri!!

My mom cans everything! She does salsa, spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, pickles, and all local fruits. I canned some peaches a couple years ago, but I haven't done any since. It's easier to go beg some off Mom. She's definitely a pro. I keep joking with her that we're going to start a mother/daughter canning show on the Food Network.

I have never canned anything, though I did make homemade applesauce when I was 10. (Mom helped.) But next year, we're having a garden, and I'm totally going to can the harvest! So ask me about this time next year, and I"ll tell you what I made. :)

I can everything too. The Ball Blue Book and the Kerr book are a must. See if you can find some of the older Farm Journal cookbooks in a used book store. I bought them when they were new and they are a keeper.
