I just finished sorting the hairpins. I will post totals in a few hours. I will take check, money order or paypal. If you are paying by credit card, don't forget to add the fees (.30 + 2.9% of your total) (Thanks Jennifer, I took this wording from you, I know, I'm shamelessly plagerizing).

Unfortunately I don't have enough hair pins to fill everyone's orders. The following people are effected. Please let me know if this causes a problem.

Roshannah will get 1 dozen 1.5", No 2", 2.5", 3"

Lisamm will get No 2", No 3" Thanks for volunteering

Girlndocs will get 1 dozen 2.5", No 3"

I am truely sorry about this, I did buy all the hairpins on the shelves.

Thanks everyone and to those who volunteered to take less pins. I've already sorted the packages so there is no need for furthur volunteers.

I just set up a premier account that will accept credit cards. I owe everyone an apology. I didn't realize that you need a seperate paypal account to accept credit card payments. Thanks Jennifer for pointing this out.

Also, all prices include shipping.

Your're welcome everyone. I picked up 57 packs of hairpins. I will sort them this weekend. I will let everyone know which sizes that I am short. I know one is the 3", I can't remember if the other was the 2" or 2.5"

One proposal I have, for those of you that ordered 3 packs would you mind taking 2, that way everyone who wants some would be able to have some.

Another proposal which is my original one, I will fullfill the non USA orders 1st, than fill the USA orders in the order that I received them until I run out of pins.

I will post everyone's totals on this thread on Sunday.

Hi Juli,

I'm one that ordered three packs.
It's OK with me to take only two if that will help out filling others orders.

Thanks,
Maggie

As long as I get two packets of 2.5" I will be more than happy  Thank you so much Juli :smooch: Hope you had a good time did the shopkeepers eyes go

Yea! That's great that you were able to get so many. Did you have a good trip? I too am curious about the shopkeepers reaction.

There was only one lady running the store. She wanted to know if I had my own store or if I was opening a shop. I told her that I was picking them up for some long haired friends of mine. I did clean out the shelves except for the 1.5"

I think I was in for three (can never remember these things without looking it up and I am too lazy to do THAT) but would be thrilled with two or even one if you need to cut it back to that.

Thanks Juli!!!

Juli,

I got 3 packs. If it is not to late to say, I'll give up my 3 inch OR my 2 inch (but not both please) if it would help someone else. That would leave me with the 2.5 and either a larger or smaller size to play with.

Please let me know ASAP. Also would you PM your address so I can get the MO in the mail to you.

If you are paying by cc, don't forget to add the fees (.30 + 2.9% of your total)

Pardon my ignorance but what is CC and do we all need to add this? I asume this does not include shipping... how much for that?

TY so much for doing this Juli. I am really looking forward to playing with the pins.

Just wanted to toss in here since I have been off line for a few days, I had intended to see if they had these at our local Amish community, but I don't know exactly where it is and the friend that was going to take me found out she had breast cancer at the beginning of Oct. They (the Amish) are pretty private around here, and if you don't go with someone they know you may not get a friendly response.

My friend had to have a radical mastechtomy, and is now embarking on a 6 month round of chemo and was told in no uncertain terms that she will loose all her hair. It is almost to her waist (probably past it when pulled straight), dark brown, and curly.

I'm sorry I was unable to find out if we could get some here, maybe at a later date.

Thankyouthankyouthankyou :flowers: ! Got mine two minutes ago

@Di- I am sure *no* one around here would expect you to watch out for *hairpins* when your friend is doing so very badly. Hopefully she will go through this quickly and recover soon :flower:

Ooo... mine had come today, too! :cloud9:

They are perfect, so sturdy and smooth. I might end up painting the "showing end" of the pins with my mother's old mahogany nailpolish, then they'd be perfect and invisible. Woo-hoo! :hollie:

A thousand thanks to Juli for getting the pins for us! :smooch:

Juli,

Thanks for doing this that is a lot of hair pins. I hope to get mine soon :-D

That interesting idea, although they should be pretty invisable as they are. Hmm... must find out I guess. Everyone's hair is a bit different and they may show on some and not for others.

exclusively di,

OMG, I am so sorry for your friend. I will keep her in my prayers. Do NOT be worried about hairpins, being there for your friend is much more important and we all understand that. If she does have hair loss you may suggest to her some scarves like Madeleine has shown?

Yeah, I assume anyone who's not a hairpin klutz can use them as-is. My hair is darkish auburn, so the steel of the pins shows pretty well when I haven't been able to put them in just right.

Ditto. I'll be thinking of you Di and your friend, too. :grouphug:

Di, I am so sorry that your friend is ill. If you're interested I can post where I picked up the pins. I paid attention this time.

Thanks everyone for letting me know that the hairpins arrived.

Thanks for the prayers, I know she will appreciate them. She feels about her hair as we do. I was able to share with her about my experience of losing most of my hair, and though I knew her before that time I was not around her when it happened, only after it had grown in quite a bit. It helped her to remember I had gone through something very similar. Also to remember that my hair grew back white, in case hers does. She knows someone close to her who can really relate to the trauma. She is only 39 and has 11 and 13 year old sons. I was 35 when it happened to me.

Your concern and support is really appreciated, I know she will be very thankful. She has a computer, but they don't have the internet, so I have never been able to turn her on to LHC.

Juli, the pins came this morning !!!

I couldn't try them right then as I was leaving to catch my train, but I have three of the 3" pins holding my plain bun pretty secure !! My hair isn't really slippery (It's raining here :( )so I have to try that another day.

Thank you so much for doing this !!!

Love,
Niph

I received mine just now! They actually work better for me than the pins I got from plainlydressed. The tip is squarish where the PD ones were round with a larger opening towards the ends. They slipped easily out of my bun, but these seem a tad less smooth, making them stay in just fine! Yay!
Thank you so much for organizing this, Juli :cloud9:

Is there a website to view these hairpins more close-up (so I know to get in on the next order?) From the pic of them in the link above, they look like bobby pins -- is that right?

Chameleon
November 15th, 2004, 05:41 PM
Here is a link to a site that sells them. Amish Hairpins (http://plainlydressed.bravepages.com/headcoveringfile.html). You need to scroll down almost to the bottom of the page. I'm thinking of doing another order in the spring.
