How long have you been visiting a LH support place online? Like LHC or LHL or similar?

Well, my first post ever on LHC was on Nov 22, 2002. I'd been lurking for a week prior, maybe, but not too long. :)

I started visiting LHL and TLHS back in '98, and LHC since LHL started charging for its "services" (although the membership fee business turned me off to hair boards in general for a while).

Started on LHL in Dec of 2000, and visited a few in between. :)

being a computer geek, since there was an internet certainly.

and even before that when Prodigy was big, way before AOL, and even a few bulletin boards around that time.

but never interactively until the past 6 months or so.

guess I had visited everywhere and seen every site and photo about long hair there was.

I began visiting the LHL site right before I began growing my hair, which was sometime in 2000. There are quite a few people that are here at this site that gave me encouragement back then. My hair would never have grown this long without the support those members :) Thank you!

I started posting at LHL at the end of January 2001, then moved here to LHC about a year ago. Hey, hasn't it been almost exactly a year now since the whole thing with LHL charging membership fees came up?
The first time I ever looked at any long hair sites was in spring of 2000, I think. I had found LHL when I was looking for hairstyles for prom. If I hadn't, I probably would have stopped at around BS length, but the pictures and articles inspired me to grow it longer.

I guess I found TLHS and then LHL sometime in late 1999 or early 2000 when I was looking for ways to care for and grow out my seriously damaged hair. I only started posting when LHC changed it's boards to these, so I lurked for quite a while.

I had always thought my hair was too short and I wouldn't have any helpful advice, so I never signed up. Just read and learned, and learned a lot. I'm still learning a lot. I definately recognize a few names from other boards. It was very inspiring during those times when I had short, fried hair that one day I could grow long, healthy hair. You guys are great!

I'm definately glad I finally signed up here, though!

Recently! I've only been here since March 1. Before that, I didn't even know such a thing as a long hair community existed. (Found out about it from Steph, on another forum)

Hee hee....I didn't even really read any posts before I joined...so I've been doing for less than a week....but I read up on stuff before then...for about another week or so prior....in other words, not too long... :)

I found TLHS in May of 2001. My first post was at LHL on June 1, 2001. I've been at LHC from the beginning. :D

i found lhl in augest 01 and then moved on to the new site. never joined it though as i couldnt afford it and couldnt justify paying for it anyway. so then i didnt even visit that i took about eight months away from the boards and then when i came back to it and asked where everyone was i was told to go to longhair community which i did and now moved on to this new birth of the longhair community.

I found TLHS first, probably in late 1997, and Hair Boutique from there - I hung out a lot at Hair Boutique - and eventually hit LHL right before the big division. I posted off and on, and felt really ignored sometimes and lurked more and more. I lurked at LHC off and on, and finally got off the Lurk Boat here on the shores of the beautiful Long Hair Community on February 21st '03.

It's hard sometimes for me to participate in the boards - I tend to be a rather outspoken person - and saying to someone - Well that's stupid or some other less than politically correct? kind? nice? response has a tendency to make people not like you very much. So I shut up ALOT.
Contrary opinions aren't always for the best, but sometimes I can't help myself! and I guess you'll all know when I'm off on a rampage :twisted:

I've been visiting long hair support sites on and off for about three years, maybe a little more. Time flies! I stopped visiting any for a long time because of the popups at n54, which was my favorite. This one is my new favorite!

This actually sent me rummaging through the old LHL growing out boards to see if I could find my first post there... I couldn't, but I found an early post from February of last year.

Hmm, it seems like longer.

I visited my first long hair site in May 2002 after I hacked 9" off of my hair. Wishing4 (known at NC.com as SnowWhite) introduced me to the both LHL and LHC... and to her beautiful hair... and I was on my way.

I spent most of last year over at LHL-- I bought a membership and all. Then, sometime in January, CurlyGirl reminded me of LHC and I found the old message board. I've been a lurker and 'sometimes' poster ever since.

Often I don't feel like writing too much b/c my hair is only a bit past my shoulders... but, I have learned SO much from all of you and seriously enjoy my visits here.

I found the old LHL early last year and lurked for a couple of months. If my memory is correct I finally got up the courage and started posting about a week before it changed over to the new LHL :? Great timing huh? Since then I've mostly been at LHC. I tend to slip back into lurkdom alot though. I'm a very, very quiet person IRL and I guess that tends to carry over to online for me.

i found TLHS about six months ago, and this site, oh, a week ago! until i found TLHS, i never imagined there would be support groups for longhairs!

I started lurking in the summer of last year, and finally opened my big mouth in August. Now I can't stop, sorry everyone!

I definitely understand this Gren! I'm a very blunt person in real life and this doesn't go over well on the internet because of the lack of facial expression, tone, etc. so I have to be careful. I've been participating on usenet, boards, and email lists since '97 and I still sometimes slip up :oops:

somewhere in middle march 2003. i got interested in growing my hair in feb 2003. then started looking in the web for hair care tips in march. i landed up in http://www.tlhs.org/ and then glimpsed thro LHL, then dweamgoil's site :) and then from a link there, i dived in here :D

and my hair has started thanking me for this!!!

Probably about three and a half years - maybe even more. I have pics from August 2001 that I know I took to post on the old LHL boards to show my progress since the start from a pixie. I believe I had been posting for about six months then.

I've been around longhair boards since I started growing it out - something I'm eternally grateful for as I wouldn't have known the first thing to do with long hair being a life long shorthair before this.

I have been coming here since Dec '03. I have also been to Naturallycurly.com since August '02. Both have taught me the proper way to care for my long curly hair.

I'm coming up on my anniversary as a member here next month, but I lurked for about 6 months before that. I love this place!

In 2000 I started participating in hair care related forums, majority long hair.

I Co-moderate some on Yahoo and on another site.
I used to participate at Long Hair Lovers (Network 54 days)
I've participated at all versions of this site (LHC)
I participate at the Loom and at Hairboutique's Long Hair Support Board.

I've only been on LHC since October 04. Was not really active on other long hair sites besides maybe a few visits.

I know hair care was one of the very first things I searched for when I got online back in 1995.

Members List says I joined on February 4th, 2004 and I "lurked" for maybe a month or so before I joined. So I voted for close to a year.

I lurked about a month before joining on July 21st 2003. Found LHC via TLHS and the Loom. Somehow I stopped visiting those other two, I only check them once in a great while. Now I'm only an active member here because this is where I feel most at home. And on my own site of course. I just don't have time for anything else :mrgreen:

I couldn't say how long, but it's been more than 2 years. I was posting at longhairlovers way before they moved to an ezBoard. I still post there once in a while. I prefer this board; it's the best! I have been here since September. I was never a lurker; I jumped right in! :grin:

I stumbled across TLHS first a couple of years ago. I came across LHC just 2 months ago and think this is the most extensive database for long hair related information. You can generally find an answer here that you may or may not about long hair care or anything else related to long hair...

In addition to LH info. I like that people are quite responsive to question regarding issues other than LH too...

Only since the end of October/beginning of November. I started at the Loom, and came over here also when I found out that a lot of the same people frequent both. It's only been a couple of months, but my hair already looks so much better.

Since early 2000. I started with tlhs.org and longhairlovers.com and then followed the various members to the new boards which popped up after Jennifer started charging to use the new site.

I registered for these boards when I decided to come out of long time lurkdom and actually join in the chat. It's kind of odd for me because I've been around for years and feel I know the other long time members pretty well, yet as far as anyone else is concerned, I only popped up about a year ago. Heh.

I've been reading this site regularly since June. However I have lurked on a curly hair website since 2000.

More than a year, but less than two years. I started from tlhs, continued to the long locks salon and ended up here. :pinkgrin:

I'm still pretty new to the whole discussion board thing. I didn't need any help in growing it out, it does most of the work. Since I've reached the "extra long" stage, I thought I'd better start learning about how to better care for it.

i just found out about this site a few days ago so not very long. but i really like it so far.

Almost 6 years ago I discovered TLHS. I've witnessed the birth of several long hair sites since then.

I just joined this month. This site has given me something fun over break.

January/February will be 4 years for me.

I wandered around and saw several sites, but like the old LHL the best. I followed LHL when it went pay, but prefered the atmosphere over at the old LHC. I've followed LHC to this site.

I've known several of the members for that entire time period. Within my first few months at the old LHL I met: LisaJaney, Carolyn, Amazon, Longhair, Cowgal/Val, Anne, Martine, Fox, Grace, KarenMarie (Accolady), Stephanie, and others.

The rest is history . . . I've been coming to LHL/now LHC ALMOST every day since then!

discovered TLHS in October '01, then wandered around the internet and forgot to bookmark Longhairlovers, Victor's Mens' long hair site, hairboutique, and the old network 54 version of this place. I was a regular at TLHS for a long time but the board got cycled so quickly because of trolling that the same questions came up over and over again and I got bored. Then somehow I learned of this place when it was n54 and managed to bookmark it. I've learned SO much from this place - the simple fact that stuff gets saved is what keeps me coming back. Joined this site about 9 months ago, but was lurking for about a month before then. I've don't really visit other long hair sites.

I first started looking at LHC when I was pregnant with my little boy, that was back in mid 2002. Back then I posted from a cyber cafe in Dublin Ireland. I got started posting here because someone I knew was trying to tell me that no one should wash there hair everyday...I went searching for sites on long hair and originally faound Accolady's stressless tresses, which led me here. From there I went searching for info about who was right about how often to wash ones hair...me or or this other person... and found out we are both right, just for different people...lol my hair can be SO greasy and oily...but Ive found that I can go a couple days sometimes without washing...but ONLY if I am wearing my hair up. This person also told me I shouldnt have long hair, because I was married and that long hair was unfasionable...:rolleyes: In any case.... here I am ....30 inches of hair, and still predominantly washing nearly every day.

I'm kind of a newbie. I joined in late January '05, and absolutely love the site.

I've been lurking at various long-hair boards for about as long as I've had internet access. I do know I visited the old LHL boards and 'Long Hair Care Forum,' but don't really remember any specifics. 6 years or so? Not sure. I got a pixie cut about that time, and was hating it, and have spent the intervening years letting things grow out. It's all at or below my shoulders now, and I'm resisting the urge to get a trim. (hence my de-lurkdom ... If I talk about it, I can maybe resist?)

Long Hair Care Forum was a godsend when I was growing out my bangs, since it's an active board, with lots to read, and Naturally Curly's forums were fabulous when I realized that my hair's wavy. I learned a lot about conditioning my hair properly, deep conditioning, etc.. Neither board really seems to have enough people with anything like my hairtype, though, so this board is a treasure trove of information. I tend to get completely sucked in, reading, and reading, and reading. ;)

I've posted a time or two at the LHL ezboard, and a bit at nc.com, but I really had not made up my mind to let my hair grow until this past year when I realized with my last two trims that I was really unhappy about having so much hair sliced away.

I've been wearing updos for the last week or two, and LOVING IT! (Thanks to everyone for all the fabulous ideas!)

Less than 3 months, but finally more than one! I only lurked here for one or two days before joining. I knew right away that I wanted to benefit from the information here and possibly contribute.

I've peeked at TLHS for more than a year, maybe 3 years or so, once in awhile, but really got interested in other hair sites such as LHC when I realized just how long my hair was. It's silly to say that, but until I started dating my boyfriend and he learned just how long my hair is I didn't think too much about it. I still thought it was hovering around waist length! I was thinking too much about school or something I suppose.

I started to grow my hair out about three quarters of a year ago and looked at LHL occasionally. A few months later I discovered LHC through a link from the BPAL forum and was hooked!

I stumbled upon LHC completely by fluke, lurked for about a week, signed up and will never go anywhere else. This place rocks. We (my hair and I) love it! :flowers:

Almost a year now, although it was not this site it all began with. Since last year October I became a member of a Belgian longhair site, and they had a link to LHC, so I joined here at December 1st last year.

It's well over two years for me now :cloud9: (although not that often around here anymore since real life started taking over :lol: )

Less than three months for me (since June 2005).

I had not seen anything like this before (not sure where I was at to not really notice how cool messaging boards were :roll: ), and once I saw, I joined right away. I linked to the LHC after finding out about the OCM.

I have been lurking around LH sites for over a year... I have just recently decided I really want to grow it out though.

I guess it's been about a month now, since i joined in mid-july.

I've been a member of LHC for 2 years and I think I lurked for a few months before that. I've checked out other long hair boards, but this is the only one I really like.

I was on other sites specifically for black hair since 2003...and since then I have then venturing out :)

I voted longer than a year. I had lurked on a few sites, not very often though, and then found LHC. I then lurked around for awhile and decided to join!!

I first visited TLHS and the former Long Hair Video website in 1997. I don't know why, but I was surprised to find websites about long hair. Silly me :rolleyes:

It' almost been a year for me on LHC forums and I don't post in any other forum it's my first and only one:D. But I've found out about long hairsites many years before just can't remember the exact date...

It has been 6 months for me. This is the first long hair board I have ever been on and I enjoy it very much everyone here is so nice and helpful :grin:

I've been coming here about 6 months, finding the site while searching for hair styles (I was going to cut my hair.) If it weren't for this site I'd be sporting much shorter locks!

I joined in May 2005. The LHC is the first internet forum that I have ever participated in. I find the high quality discussions on long hair and other subjects very informative and appreciate the courtesy everyone has shown me. This site is like finding a new friend...you have someone you trust to share your life experiences with. :smile:

I found these boards something like a year ago--I was actually Googling ways to safely color my hair. I had been growing out my color for a while and I was thinking that I just hated my natural hair color. I knew I was trading off length for chemical color but I figured, "Fine, I'll just bury that dream." But my Googling landed me here, and I thought, Wow. I'm not the only person in the universe who loves long hair. I'm NOT an idiot or "childish" for wanting to grow my hair long. (Yes, this has been said to me in the past.) I decided to take the plunge--to grow out my chemically treated hair all the way and then to grow my natural hair long! I just did my final chop in June. I have high hopes for achieving long hair.

I started at the old LHL October 2001 looking, at first for a way to make my hair healthier. A few months later I decided to let it grow longer.

I've been here for less than a week, but I'm loving it and plan on sticking around for a long time! ;)

I just joined! I've been lurking for a few weeks. But I visit other online forums (exercise-related) regularly.

Well, I accidentally lied because I didn't read the question fully. I voted less than 3 months, but that is specifically this forum. I have been on long hair boards in general for more than 3 years. I'm so glad they exist!

I started looking at the sites about a month ago when I was looking for hair care info and to vent about the perm from h***.

I like long hair very much, and as I've seen so much hairstyles on Internet LH sites, I decided to grow my hair really long (to the elbow tip) about a year ago.
