Ok, here's the deal. My DH likes to be on the computer at night. The computer is in the bedroom (no room elsewhere in our little apartment)... so I have to pile pillows everywhere to sleep in DARKNESS .. or go to the couch.

I am broker than broke right now (and getting broker)...so I was thinking of making a sleep mask.. you know, a mask you put over your eyes to block out light? Here's what I have at my immediate disposal (anything else must be REALLY cheap):
Old jeans, A yard of white silk, yarn, crochet tools, needles, black - purple - and white thread, old socks (clean, but have holes :silly: ) ... um a few old t-shirts... some old dress pants I will not wear *ugly colors*...oh and pantyhose that I've already been chopping up for ponytail holders....

Soooooo how to I make a sleep mask? Any ideas? I've scoured the web, but came up blank  ...so was wondering if any of you crafty people have ideas? Remember.. i'm BROKE BROKE, so can't justify buying one.

TIA

Saji

Here's one:

I'll keep looking. For the one above, use what you've got instead of buying felt. It's a basic idea to work off of.

This one you put dried herbs in (IF you want to)

I've had several sleep masks..... and the Tempur pedic one is the ULTIMATE. It completely blocks out all light. I think you could make one like it fairly easily. Take a look at:

http://www.brookstone.com -click on tempur pedic.... then sleep accessories.

Do you have any sponge shoulder pads? I saved a bag of these things and always thought they should be good for something..... but what?? I couldn't stand them in my clothes. They're the perfect shape for a mask...... you could cover them with anything...... an old towel..... or your scraps. They'd fit around the nose.... and that's what I didn't like about most masks..... they weren't form fitting there.

See what you think.

i would say using one of the patters given, use your old pants (not jeans) and put a layer of silk neatest your face or on both sides to make it a bit prettier. if you don't have elastic i would use some of the pantyhose you have.

just be sure to check the light blocking qualities before cutting it all out.
