Hello there! It's nice to meet more long hair fans! I thought I would introduce myself - still looking around the board (I'm in heaven!).

Anyway, I've had long hair most of my life - length varying - and now I'm trying to grow it out as long as I can. Unfortunately I never bothered to really measure it or keep track of how long it was, at what date (wish I had) as my errr.... "hair obsession" is a new thing for me (as is learning to care for it properly, now). My profile picture is a few months old, sadly. Need to update it as well as get a more accurate measurement (I tried measuring it myself yesterday), but I think it's at 40 inches now.

I'm kind of drawing a blank right now (sorry... haven't had breakfast or coffee yet!) so I'll close with a "looking forward to getting to know you all"! :)

Thank you all! You're so sweet! I'm so happy I came across this board and signed up! Oooh! If only hair grew quickly from compliments alone! My hair would be sooooooooooo long just from reading this thread! LOL! ;) I've been enjoying everything I've read so far (there's so much to read! LOL! Thanks :D I actually really WAS being horrible to my hair and it was showing.... if I get a chance a little later I'll post the before shot - my ends were scraggly and thin and very damaged. I went to a hairdresser I trust and she cut off a few inches to make it all one length.

The best things I've done, besides the cut of course, that showed immediate results were to get a wide-toothed comb and at least use IT before I brush (I still use a paddle brush to help keep my hair from going into separate sections and to help me slick my hair back so I can have it even to work with) and a boar's hair brush so I don't have to wash my hair everyday. Oh yeah, and learning to do quick up-do's so I'm not risking more damage. It's amazing how those few things have really helped.

Next step is to buy a pair of scissors so I can dust for splits. :D

I finally had a chance to look for my pre-trim image from this past May. You can see how thin my ends are. She took off the smallest amount we felt necessary (some more probably should have come off, but neither of us wanted to go that far just yet) and to help even the line out. I don't think I'd ever had my hair cut straight across so I figured that would be a great time to give it a try. I really like it this way so I'll probably let her do that again next time I get a trim (I'm thinking every 6-12 months for trims).
