I've been lurking around the craftster.org boards, and picked up a few ideas. The first thing I made was a no sew pillow out of a favorite t shirt that had seen better days.

Also, I made a skirt out of an old t shirt. Roughly, you cut straight across the t shirt right under the arms. Then, cut two small holes in the seam at the bottom, and string a shoelace through it. Put it on, tie the shoelace so the skirt fits, and there you go. If you hemmed the bottom where you cut the shirt, I don't think you'd be able to tell what it used to be.
