Hello all! I found this site a couple of weeks ago, and have been looking around and learning a lot. So much useful information I used to have no idea about.

I've been growing my hair since forever, or so it seems. I tend to get scissor happy, either because I want a change, or because the ends don't look good. With all I'm learning these days, though, I'm sure my ends will be much happier in the future. And as for change, I usually end up regretting it when I do cut it. My hair has usually been at least to my shoulders. It's been really short 3 times, but I couldn't get used to it. Also, I find it's much more time-consuming, since I had to style it (the sheep look of hair all over the place didn't particularly suit me...)

Right now it's color-treated (I deeply regret that), but luckily (after 3 semi-permanent dyes on top of a *horrible* permanent dye job) it is quite close to my natural color, which is light brown to brown, depending on the season. It's naturally a bit wavy, fine, and of medium thickness, I think. 2aFii seems about right.

I've changed my routine a lot in the last few weeks, and gone maybe a tad overboard in trying out new things. Got a BBB and a good comb, some jojoba oil, a few essential oils, some new hair toys, tried COing (three times before I got a decent result, but couldn't give up!), just tried an ACV rinse...

First goal - BSL. If it still looks good, I'll just let it grow, I guess. When I was a kid, I had waist-length hair, and I'd so love to have it again. Hopefully healthier this time.

Welcome to the club! *L* I did the same thing when I first joined the board a few years ago. I think a lot of people go through this. Eventually you'll find products and a routine that works well for you but you need experiment to figure this out, right?

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, all of you! :D This really seems like an awesome community, and I'd love to get to know all of you better.

I'm having tons of fun experimenting with products and styles. I've tried to take a few pics with my (sorry excuse for a) digital camera. If they come out half decent, I'll try to post some. Will have to get a decent one for my sig!

Looking forward to learning more, and watching my hair reach its full potential. *Doing happy excited dance* :hollie:

Aww y'all are just making my day. :D :D :D

I have to tell you I'm just having the best hair day today! Yesterday morning I S&C'ed after COing 3 times in a row. My hair came out fluffy, but a bit more tangly than usual (because I'm trying to stay off the cones?), and also the ends were a tad dry. This could also be because I should get a trim soon. Anyway, I put some oil on, and it looked nice all day yesterday. Then in the evening I misted (carefully - I've found out how much is *too* much now  ), and ended up sleeping with it loose - something I haven't done in a while.

In the morning it was all soft and silky, not a tangle, and almost totally straight. Wow. :D I pulled the top section back with a new metal barrette (no hinges to trap hair, just bent metal), and it actually looks really, really good. *Doing happy dance*.

I'm so glad I'm not considered totally obsessed for caring about stuff like that. :inlove: :flower:

Welcome to the family! C'mon in; the water's fine! (and no, you're not considered obsessive for thinking a LOT about hair-related things.....we are ALL obsessed. It's not likely that any of US would be pointing fingers now..... ;) )

*waving to Gillibean*. Hi other Karen!

bettyblue - cool to find someone with pretty much the same hair story and goals!

LisaJaney - nothing better than an obsession shared! :D
