View Full Version : A little ranting about Ficcare (company, NOT products!)
Axium March 24th, 2003, 11:41 AM I just LOVE and adore my Ficcare clips, but jeez Louise, what is up with this company? The website - We all know. Now today, I call up for a catalog, and they say there are none available, and they'll let me know when they are - which should be in a few WEEKS  :!:
Man, It's amazing how we have to jump all these hoops to get a hold of these products. And I'm in the US, where I know it's easier than as is the case for many of you overseas. There's always Nordstroms for me, but the selection is scant, and the prices overblown.
For those of you still searching - the best deal I've ever found is at tenderheaded.com, where I got my first one, $25. I don't know what type it is tho - I'd be grateful if someone could tell me.
That's it! I open the floodgates to you!
Karen March 24th, 2003, 11:50 AM they suck
you have to order 2 products minimum now when ordering directly from them. like i have enough money to buy 2 at a time
they don't have a return policy. you buy it and your stuck. found that out the hard way.
i bought 2 of their catalogs for $4 each with the promise that the $8 would be reimbursed upon a purchase. when i purchased, they refused to honor that. and why should i have to pay so much to begin with?
they double charged my credit card. when i called to complain and get them to retract it, they acted like i was lying instead of apologizing profusely like they should have.
they suck.
the end
Karen March 24th, 2003, 11:51 AM axium, i forgot
i believe that tenderhead sells the
"Classic Clips"
Jonobie March 24th, 2003, 11:53 AM Frankly, it's because of the complaints I've heard about their customer service that I'm trying really hard to find knock offs that I like.
I may take a look at what the Nordstroms has, whenever it moves into Austin, because I'm not sure I can get exactly what I want elsewhere. But I certainly won't recommend them to others, and it'll be my last resort to buy from them myself.
I don't like buying from companies that I disapprove of. And I disapprove of horrible customer service.
Cheers,
Jonobie
Axium March 24th, 2003, 11:53 AM Jeezoman...Thanks for posting that. This thread may be something we really need to discuss.
And thanks for identifying my clip!
Karen March 24th, 2003, 12:02 PM Axium, I am Karen, not jezzoman
Is there something wrong with my posts again? Is my name not showing up right?
I think there was someone else who was double charged on their credit card too. When we talked about it on the old boards, I seem to remember someone else saying the same thing.
Axium March 24th, 2003, 12:06 PM Karen doll, I wasn't addressing you - I was saying Jeez, Oh Man!! ;)
Karen March 24th, 2003, 12:08 PM duh
that's too funny!
Anne March 24th, 2003, 12:25 PM JEEZOMAN!!!! :D
um...this sounds awful ladies! good to know, I guess I should to to my local Nordies instead and what't with the web site????? It's been under construction for over a year?
LisaJaney March 24th, 2003, 01:16 PM Jeez o Man. Too funny. Karen: why don't you just tell us what you really think? (I was laughing my head off at your post, I remember you telling us about the horrors of your order and double-charge when it all happened, and I am glad to hear someone just "tell it like it is")
Axium, those of us who know and love Karen OFTEN refer to her as Jezzoman. But only when she's not in the room to defend herself! Hahahahaha
I like the few Ficcares I own. Got two off eBay, and one I got from Beliebte (she is such a nice lady) when she found her Nordy's having a half-off sale on them. I got the biggest, honkin' Classic clip (the one shaped like an anteater's nose, or a hummingbird's beak) for under $13. Great bargain. But I wouldn't buy directly from the company just because of all the fun that folks here have said they face. Seems like they have a bit of trouble in the billing department, and are too arrogant to issue apologies when they are due. "I like to shop at the Ficcare company because of who they think they are". bwahahahahhaa In all honesty, I like my fakes just every bit as well. Granted, those plastic ones break from time to time, but dang-it, they are so much lighter. Some days, a heavy clip will give me a headache. So, the plastics are kinda nice on those days.
My sincere apologies for talking trash about the beloved Ficcare company, TBear.

just discovered this myself. i never bought a cheap plastic knock off before, but now i'm hooked :) AND by being cheapo, i'm also not supporting a company that harrassed karen to no end, lol!
Hollie March 24th, 2003, 02:21 PM Aren't Ficcare's FRENCH?????? ;) :x At this point, I don't think I'd take one for free.
LisaJaney March 24th, 2003, 02:41 PM Hollie, you big goofball. They're made in Brazil. But......Probably by a Spanish-speaking little man in a beret, with one hand tucked inside his vest..... bwahahahaha

ROFL!!!!!!!!!! Okey dokey! Thanks for straightening me out!!! :P
Grace March 24th, 2003, 05:50 PM I'm sorry about the catalog thing. I got my first ficcares from calling the company and I didn't have any trouble. I couldn't find what we wanted at Nordstroms so I called the company. They didn't have a website either. This was awhile ago though, before they had a catalog. They didn't even have order forms--the man who said he'd box me up some didn't even know prices! He told me at that time that they don't normally sell retail, but he'd make an exception for me. I was excited to hear about a website, but it seems like I was premature in my happiness.
Now the bad news:
The last few times I was at Nordstrom's (I only stop in to look at the hair things) I noticed a very small ficcare collection that hasn't seemed to change. The saleslady said that they are phasing out the ficcares :(
Fortunately I found ficcares at my Mason Pearson store AND Neiman Marcus (they are cheaper than Nordie's too!) I liked Nordie's best though since they would let me try on the ficcare's, even gave me tips on wearing them. My MP store doesn't take returns nor allows try-ons. <pout> None of the stores have a huge collection though.
DweamGoiL March 25th, 2003, 05:36 AM not Spanish.
Hollie March 25th, 2003, 05:41 AM not Spanish.
Right.......Portuguese.
Tresses March 25th, 2003, 12:10 PM Wow! I have ordered only once from Ficcare, but had no serious problems (they were out of stock on one of the barrettes I wanted and took a week to get back to me about it, though). They do allow returns with approval for exchange only. And your problem must be reported within 5 days. Not a perfect solution, but I felt that should be clarified. I do plan on purchasing more. I'll let you know how it goes.
LisaJaney March 25th, 2003, 06:33 PM ::insert famous 80's Steve Martin quote here::
Teacherbear March 26th, 2003, 03:44 PM I am so sad to hear some of ya'll have had some bad experiences with the company. I sincerely was a little concerned to place my order.
I called them on 3/20 and ordered 3 clips (2 for me, 1 for Martine), and they arrived today, 3/26. I also received the newest catalog.
They clips look wonderful! The selection is MUCH better in the catalog than what you find at local stores (Nordies, etc.).
I just wanted to share my experience with the company. This was my very first order directly from Ficcare. All of my other clips have come from Nordies.
Just wanted to let ya'll know!
