Where can I find instructions on how to do a Chinese knot? Also, how long does hair have to be to do this style? My hair is just at bsl.

I have instructions on my hair accessories page:

here (http://members.shaw.ca/tntdesigns/hair.htm)

look at the bottom of the page under STYLES - I called it a "birdsnest bun"

BSL hair should work fine!!

Very well done, the illustrations make it so much easier to understand! :rockerdud

Thanks for the info. I have probably seen it called a birdsnest knot and passed over it before. I didn't know it had another name. I'll try it and see how it goes.

That's a nice variation, the regular old bun gets boring after a while.

I remember posting the instructions for the CHinese knot on the TLHS website. Got the idea here in China. Looks like word in the longhaired community spreads fast!

I practised a little bit today. It will take a little more time, but I got the hang of it. I read that there's the vertical option as well. Does anyone have a pic of that?

ooh, I noticed this one before, but hadn't got a link. Cool, thanks. I will try this this week - after my hair is dry.

Well I'm glad the instructions worked for you guys!
and yep, I remember reading about it on TLHS, but I couldnt figure it out until I saw someones picture of it on the Loom.
I'm really terrible with written instructions - thats why I did the photo thing because I have to *see* something to understand it. hopefully I can get my hands on a camera again soon because I want to put a bunch more styles up! 8)

Oh cool! I didn’t see those instructions before…all hidden on the bottom of the page (that, or I’m blind  )

I wore this bun this morning:

It went a bit tilted as you'll see from the hair stick. You'll also note that the pc is turned to LHC in the background, as I was looking at the instructions!!

That looks great, Bees! It is a little tilted, but then, so is your head, so it's really hard to tell. Who said hairstyles need to be straight, anyway?

But the SHINE! I'm blinded!

I do this bun when I want something a bit different. I sometimes twist the hair like you do with a normal bun then wrap it around the hair stick. I find it holds better. Bobby pins are NOT my friends. They don't seem to hold my hair. :?

It's a really neat look though. I'm becoming a bun whore. The more variety in buns, the better!!

hey bees, that looks great!!
and nope Igor, you're not blind - they really are kinda hidden... I need to do some redesigning and make a new styles page! 8)

I really like this hairstyle mostly for wash days since it leaves odd waves. However, it is also perfect for when I ride my bike to work since the horizontal hairstick (sometimes I use two) fit nicely with the bike helmet and I don't have to redo my hair when I get to work.
