Elle March 21st, 2003, 04:42 AM Here's something interesting...
See if you can figure out how they do it. :)

Madeleine March 21st, 2003, 05:26 AM Cool, LOL
It took me a while ... that's clever :D
strawberry March 21st, 2003, 06:17 AM how do they do it????? im going crazy! all i can tell is that the symbols shift every time you click. i cant figure it out mathematically! pleeeeease tell me! :) i wont tell anyone else :)
Heidi March 21st, 2003, 07:01 AM Wow! It worked for me too...weird!
euphrasyne March 21st, 2003, 08:12 AM There are only so many possible answers you can get. All possible answers share the same symbol on each turn.
Formual is number ab - (a+b) = s
For any given starting number, s=9*A
All multiples of 9 share the same symbol on each turn.
Try it:
53= 53-(5+3) = 45 or 5*9=45
72= 72-(7+2) = 63 or 7*9=63
Math problem solved.
I love figuring these things out. lol I have too much time on my hands.

euphrasyne March 21st, 2003, 08:23 AM DweamGoil,
what number did you use? all the multiples always appear the same to me...

I worship and revere you. I would rather have all my fingernails gnawed by rabid mice than do math stuff.
*screams and runs away from scary math stuff*
DweamGoiL March 21st, 2003, 09:38 AM ;)
LONGHAIR March 21st, 2003, 01:36 PM Then you did the math wrong somewhere........
44, 4+4=8, 44-8=36........multiple of 9

You're a smart cookie, Cheryl ! :D I couldn't figure it out. I had to have my fiancé tell me.
Palonia March 21st, 2003, 05:22 PM Hehe, that was really clever. It took me a bit to figure out, but I see Cheryl beat me to posting the formula. :)
Teacherbear March 22nd, 2003, 07:10 AM It only worked 25% of the time for me (1 of 4 attempts).
I'm going back to read the mathematical explaination of it.
I hate magic . . . I have to know how it works!
;)

<sigh> I don't get it! I understand your formula fine, but I don't understand how the program "reads your mind". It is actually a 1 in 9 chance that it will read your mind, then? (since there are 9 symbols)?
Notice: when I "get it" I get it, when I don't . . . I'm totally flabbergasted!!!! ;) There's no real "in between" for me!

Nope - as Euphrasyne explained there are only nine possible solutions (1*9 to 9*9) for any given two digit number. In the table they show you, all nine solutions share the same symbol.
It's a different symbol for each try because they keep changig the table, but all multiples of nine (apart from 90 and 99) share the same symbol each time. That's the one they'll show you in the sphere afterwards, so they're always right. Check it out!

Ok, <kablewie> brain exploded! hahahahaahahaha :)
LongRed March 22nd, 2003, 08:09 AM Oh wow, that's weird....thanks for showing
the formula! :)
