View Full Version : Hey, I got a ficcare flip to work ... finally!

Every time in the past when I tried ficcare flips, my layers would stick out in all directions and make it look ratty. I guess my hair is now finally long enough, even at the shortest layers, to make it look good, 'cause I've got one in now.

Yippee! I got so excited about all the updos that I can now make that I made a little chart to hang on my closet door to remind me of all the updos & ways of securing them so that I don't get caught in a rut.

It looks kinda like so:

Style &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Method to secure
=====================
Figure 8 bun &nbsp&nbspHair Sticks
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Ficcare
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Good Hair Days Pins
--------------------------------------
French Twist &nbsp&nbspFiccare
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp French Twist Kit
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp French Twist Comb
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Hair Slide + Good Hair Days Pins
--------------------------------------
Etc.

Neat, huh? Or maybe obsessive....

Cheers,
Jonobie

Neat! Hey, don't worry about being called hair toy obssessive here. That would be like a buttload of kettles calling a pot black. :P

Hmmm...okay...what's a ficcare flip?

Not that I have any ficcares, or needed an excuse to buy one...

Sounds like a great idea Jonobie. Congrats on you mastering the clip.

Heidi, here is an example of a type of "ficcare" clip:

Hi Patricia! Thanks for the link, that one's pretty. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on my financial status), I do know what a ficcare clip is, but I don't know what a ficcare flip is...

I'll PM you, Heidi. The description I've seen is on another hair board, and I'm currently unclear about when it's deemed acceptable to post links to other boards. Perhaps a moderator could PM me with some guidelines about that?

Cheers,
Jonobie

Would you pm me, too, Jonobie? I was just going to ask that question - what IS a ficcare flip?

Briefly speaking, a ficcare flip is done as follows:

Put your hair into a ponytail. From the end, roll it up into a roll until it reaches your head (as if you were rolling it on a huge roller). Once it reaches your head, slide a ficcare-style clip through the roll (above your hair tie) to attach it to the back of your head. The roll will fan out a bit and cover your hair tie and create a well-balanced loop at the back of your head.

I think credit goes to Fox for the creation of the style, but I'm not sure. :)

Cheers,
Jonobie

Congrats Jonobie! :D
Do you or anyone else have a link to a site explaining how to do a figure 8 bun?
Thanks in advance!

I was just going to suggest Katzedecimal's site - but I checked it and saw it was "closed".
Does anyone know if that's temporary, if the content was moved or if she took it down for good? Would be a shame really ... :(

That is the one I was looking for, actually. I wasn't sure if it was hers.
I lost the link.

Sorry for the double post

I'm so glad you were able to do it! It feels great to create a style someone likes enough to keep trying! I'm glad it's working for you!
