If a dog was the teacher you would learn stuff like:

> > When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

> > Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

> > Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

> > When it's in your best interest, practice obedience

> > Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

> > Take naps.>

> > Stretch before rising.

> > Run, romp, and play daily.

> > Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

> > Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

> > On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

> > On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

> > When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

> > No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back and make friends.

> > Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

> > Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.

> > Be Loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

> > If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

> > When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

On the down side, I think my dog would also try to teach people that the cat box is a good source of tasty snacks. :puke:

If you whine enough you always get what you want.

(He's doing it right now because he wants to go ride in the car. Spoiled Rotten I tell you.)

I am truly blessed - neither of my pups like um..."trail truffles", and have extensive teaching experience.

That was really sweet Sally - thanks for sharing.

Hmm...but what if we made it about cats? It would look something like this:

1)When a loved one comes home, run to greet them if your dish is empty. Otherwise, ignore them until they come to you.

2)Never pass up an opportunity to claw good furniture

3)Allow the experience of a warm sunbeam through a windowsill to be pure ecstasy

4)When it's in your best interest, practice a grudging form of obedience.

5)Let others know they've invaded your territory.

6)Take CAT naps.

7)Elegantly stretch before rising.

8)Run, romp, and play with everything in the house daily. Especially expensive crystal figurines.

9)Thrive on commanding attention, and let people pet you only when you want them to.

10)Always scratch and hiss simultaneously, it confuses people that way.

11)On warm days, sit in a sunbeam and nap.

12)On hot days loll around on the cool tile floors.

13)When you're happy, purr.

14)No matter how often you're scolded, learn nothing from it, completely ignore it, and continue with business as usual.

15)Delight in the simple joy of grooming yourself.

16)Eat like a spoiled rich girl in a fancy resteraunt -- pickily, and daintily.

17)Be loyal to yourself. Never try to be something you're not.

18)If what you want is hiding under the fridge, meow plainitively until someone else fetches it for you.

19)When someone is having a bad day, curl up on thier tummy, lick them with your sandpaper tongue, and scratch them if they try to move -- afterall, just because they're having a bad day, it shouldn't ruin your schedule.

Mariah - I am shocked that you forgot one of my favorites ...

When you trip or do something similarly undignified - insist that YOU MEANT TO DO THAT :gabigrin
