View Full Version : What is your favorite Lipstick?

I have never found a lipstick that I like, but I would like to find one.
Something that is smooth and slightly shinny. I also tend to lean to natural colors. No bright colors for me
Currently I use the very cheap Bonnie Bell lip glosses that you put on with a sponge applicator. I have them in all my coat pockets as well as my purse.

I have not found the perfect lipstick either, but not for lack of trying. When did lipstick start costing more than a tank of gas!? Anyway, my favorite thing these days is also a Bonne Bell--the mocha lip balm stuff--it's a sheer chocolatey brown and smells divine! Otherwise, I'll use shea butter with a dab of rose eyeshadow/blush...

Good luck in your quest!

Hmmm, natural colours, shiny ...

I'm no expert cause I rarely wear lipstick at all, but the one I use most is pretty much what you described: No. 228 ("Beige Reflect") by Lancome.
It's a neutral (neither warm nor cool) metallic beige/champagne, pretty subtle and classy. And a high quality product that's smooth gentle on the lips. Unfortunately somewhat pricy (I paid around 20 Euros), but I only use it for going out, so it lasts me forever.
I like to dress it up with some cheap clear gloss on top.

Here is a natural lipstick... lots of color options and it always seems to be well recommened:

I am thinking about trying them. They are 'spose to be very moisturizing too.... lots of EFA's.

Like Anne I have been mixing my own by dipping a lipbalm into various mineral powders. I like Bare Escentuals True, Glee, Crushed Velvet, and Chestnut.

But for the longest time I have been looking for a readymade "My lips but Better" color, in a lipbalm consistency. You know, the color of the inside of your lips? The closest I have come is Dr. Pepper flavor Bonne Belle LipSmacker, but the TASTE is to GAG for. Yuck.

These (http://www.aromaleigh.com/colwassheern.html) look interesting, but I don't really like sticking my fingers into pots. I'm still looking for a colored balm.

I was in a hurry when I posted my lipstick choices, and got them all wrong!

Jane's Rosy Outlook is the color that I like best. It's a natural pink with maybe a hint of brown. It matches my lips almost perfectly, plus a little oompf. The browned down red I rarely use, maybe for evenings only, because it's quite a bit darker. I hardly ever use lipstick anymore so I haven't looked at them in a while.

I would recommend the Rosy Outlook for a good natural color. It comes in a small pocket sized tube and they're only a couple of bucks in drug stores and often on sale at Walgreens. The only bad part is their lipsticks don't last very long.

Right now my favorite is Lancome's Schoolgirl. It makes my lips blend in with my skintone because I like to downplay lips in favor of emphasis on eyes. (A 60's thing, I know) An exception is when I wear a bright color, like red, then the lips need more color and I'll use a red lip pencil.

Right now I mostly wear Benefit lipstick in Fickle. It feels really good on, and it's a nice shade for me--kind of rosy, and just a little darker than my natural lipcolor. I'll go slightly darker for a special occasion, but not very dark---my skin is fairly pale.

is any by Lipsense which is made by SenGence. Anyone ever use it? It is acually a lipstain. You put it on in 3 very ligth coats then put a clear gloss made of shea butter over it. You have to renew the gloss every so often, but the color stays put until you take it off. It lasts all day and night for me. It is NOT like any of the drugstore long lasting lipstains. I've tried all of them and none of them are like Lipsense.

It is very expensive though.

I like wearing Avon's Perfect Wear in Mauve Ice. It has a hint of shine and it lasts all day.

I have not been able to buy it in quite some time, but I love M*A*C cosmetics, and I used to wear their Twig lipstick.

Hands down my favorite is Max factor Lipfinity!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Put it on once, no reapplication ALL DAY LONG!!! Love it!!! and I like the colors...I use one, which of course I don't know the name of , but it is EXACTLY one shade darker than my lipcolor -- just a HINT, perfect!!! my favorite is a much darker brownish-red color, but I like the dramatic colors more myself (when feeling really frisky, I love to sport a fire-engine red color)...

Aren't those LipSmackers great? I apply these every night before bed so I wake up with nice, soft lips... :)

Hi Nitsa!

A couple of weeks ago I had a "makeover" done at the NARS counter. It was a complete change from what I normally wear ... bright jewelled-toned colours (i.e. fushias, blues, greens, etc). The colour she used on my lips was tres natural. The colours and products she used were a "Tobago" lipstick with "Hush" liner, followed with "Harlow" lipgloss. Like I said before, the "look" was not me at all ... way too natural (and warm; i prefer cool shades). Too funny, more than a couple of women came up to the make-up artist and asked what she was using on my lips! I was going to purchase the lipgloss, but on it's own, it did not flatter my complexion at all! Check out the NARS counter if you have a chance .... HTH!

p.s. I just found the perfect lipstick! It's by Lancome and is called "No Excuses." It's so cool ... it is a purpish shade, plus, it even has hints of silver sparkles in it!!

Lancome is my only makeup splurge (the cheaper L'Oreal versions all smell bad to me.) I love Rouge Sensation in Nude 5 and in Henna. My favorite is a glossier Rouge Tendresse, but I can't get the color in the states. (If it helps, I am a redhead with fair skin, hazel eyes, and freckles.) Lancome is the only brand of lipstick I will wear consistently.

lipsticks all tend to give me this dry peeling layer of lip skin after a bit so i don't wear them much.

if i do want lip color, i either put on a small layer of a beeswax/jojoba base and add a bit of color with a mac lip pencil. my favorite neutral is still spice after all these years, and one pencil lasts me at least 3 years.

for gloss i like benefit's benetint. smells nice too, but it's a pink shade, not a neutral shade.[/b]

Chanel Lip Blush in Bizarre. I *begged* my mom to get me some for Christmas when I was in high school (I had to beg, because she sold Mary Kay). I wish I could still find my thing of it...

(edited to add: damnit, I just looked for it on ebay and one person selling it says that Chanel has discontinued it :( )

I got really tired of reapplying lipstick all day and began trying the "all day" ones. I tried several but they really made my lips dry and peel. I'm now using Revlon Colorstay Overtime lipcolor but they don't have a shade I really like so I have to mix. I'm mixing Endless Spice & Perpetual Pink.

I use Sonie Kashuk (Target "exclusive") lip pallet that comes in "pinks." She also has a lipstick called "Allure." My favorite lipglosses are made by cover girl and the color of the moment is "princess."

I guess I buy cheap make-up. I used to wear Sun-buffer lipstick by clinique, but they discontinued it.

I'll have to try Burt's Bees sometime

I used to have the perfect stuff: Coty brand, had almost no color in the compact and turned color when applied to lips. It was the most perfect, natural-looking, flattering color. Unfortunatley, it's no longer made.

Now I use either Revlon Toast of New York or Jane Browned Down Red.

I have a new favorite that I got at Walgreens for $3.79. Prestige Vinylwear lipgloss in Lush. The shade is very natural looking on me, kind of a deep pinkish beige. It's perfect for when I don't want to wear much makeup but want a little colour on my lips. The lipgloss feels moisturizing without being too slick or gloppy (is that a word?).
