View Full Version : introducing .... lil ol' me
Whipit May 5th, 2004, 05:29 AM Hi LHC!!! :flowers:
I have been lurking here for a bit over a month. I finally joined a few days ago - so its high time I introduced myself!
I have BS length light'ish brown hair, that is a bit on the fine side. I recently henna'd it a beautiful shade of dark aburn (thanks madeleine for the fantastic instructions on your site!!). I was very scared, and I did 3 strand tests! But it worked out perfect :inlove:
I have learnt so much from this site, and my hair has never looked or felt so good. I had been told that my hair should be shorter because it is fine and a bit fly-away. I discovered this site through searching for hair tips - I was convinced there must be a way to make my hair nicer.
Since finding site, I have not blow-fried, I have started oiling and CO washing, using satin pillow cases and treating it very gently.. and you know what?!? My hair is not flyaway anymore, I dont even need to use any styling products what so ever! I simply CO and bun it - so easy! And hey it looks shiny and soft! :rockerdud
Also I wanted to thank PurpleBubba - you are a wonderful hair coach!! I read what you wrote about wrapping the hair around the head like a big roller - it never occured to me - but it works GREAT! Makes my hair very straight - thank you thank you!
Thanks again everyone for your great advice. I look forward to participating in this forum

Yes, I'd love to share a pic. I took a couple after I did my henna. Not the best lighting, and I managed to chop my head off eek! But you get the idea of my hair. It does look thicker here. My hair seems to love henna! :cloud9:

Hi Whipit, Glad you found LHC. I'm also glad that you felt comfortable enough to de-lurk. Not always easy. ;)
Also I wanted to thank PurpleBubba - you are a wonderful hair coach!! I read what you wrote about wrapping the hair around the head like a big roller - it never occured to me - but it works GREAT! Makes my hair very straight - thank you thank you!
Thank you so much for the compliment. I do love coming up with that stuff. Even if some of it is corny :silly: If it gets a smile out of people then it's doing it's job.
I'm really glad you liked that hair wrapping considering I was quoting from memory and even that was only maybe 20% chance of being the proper way to do it, so if you are getting good results that's awesome. The technique was originally posted on a personal web site of a former LHCer and good friend of mine. She not only had lots of pictures of how to do it but she also had them combined into an animation / movie. But she took them down for personal reasons. Perhaps someday she'll share them again but in the meantime I'm very happy to hear that it worked with just my explanations.
Thanks again and welcome :)

Wow - thats an amazing coincidence! I had very mixed feelings about turning 30. On one hand I felt some despair at the loss of my younger years and how different 30-something sounds, on the other hand I look forward to the greater respect an opportinities of being in my 30's. Doors seem to be opening for me, so I think its all good. And it happens to everyone, so I'm trying to go gracefully, well as gracefully as I can lol
:silly: Onwards and upwards
