I think I have a new addiction. On my way into the city a few weeks ago I spied a new bead store I had never seen before.

Of course I had to stop in, and ended up signing up to take a necklace class.
I took the owners advice and came in a couple of days before class and chose my beads and planned my design. Had a really fun time playing with beads & putting differant combinations together.

This is my first necklace design, the buddah is jade, the green beads are glass and the brown bead are a semi-precious stone. This scan really doesn't do the colors justice.

That rocks, Rhiannon!

I've been considering going by our local bead shop here and signing up for a jewelry class, too. Were you able to do that necklace with one class? About how long did it take?

Cheers,
Jonobie

The class itself was 2 1/2-3 hours. 20 Minutes of the class were spent picking out beads, but I had already done that two days before. I probably spent a couple hours picking out my beads and putting my design together on a bead board.

She did a really nice class, gave a background on beading, a tour of the store, explained the differant beads, strings and findings and the did a demo & talked us through stringing our necklace, what a fun day! I am already working on necklace number two. Guess you know what everyone in my family is getting for Christmas this year.

What fun, Rhiannon!
I really like it.

I've never seen a clasp like that. It looks a lot easier to hook up than the others I've seen.

That is a very lovely necklace! I too am adicted to my local bead shop! I often go in my lunch break and browse. I finally bought some georgous beads recently, but haven't been back there yet to make into a necklace. Unfortunately they dont have a class where I go, so you just sit at the bench and look clueless (well I did hehe) and the girl will come and show you some tricks. I sure wish they had a class.

Oooh, I finally got to see it (the picture didn't show up last time I tried). Lovely! Beads are so much fun!

Rhiannon, great design! Jewelry making can be extremely addiciting though, so watch out

Whipit, perhaps the store would offer a class if you let them know you are interested. Worth a try, anyway.

Cheers!
