View Full Version : Fabric Scraps--Take them, please!
Heidi April 21st, 2004, 11:20 AM Calling all artists: quilters, doll-makers, ornament- and purse-makers...
I have bags and bags and bags (did I mention the bags and bags) of fabric scraps of every size and shape from snippets to bizarrely shaped 1/4 yards, and every type of fabric you could imagine--wool, silk velvet, acetate velvet, cotton velvet, lots of silks, cottons, linen, upholstery brocades you name it.
I do a certain amount of recycling and reusing of fabric and I use some of my scraps for small projects, but I just have too much, and I need to free up some space in my craft room!
It's all free, of course, but I might ask for a buck or two (PayPal) or barter to ship the stuff out. So if you're looking for specific types or colors, let me know, and I can sort through and box it up.
Lexy April 21st, 2004, 11:26 AM Me me me!!!! I usually only use "old fashioned" patterened cotton prints, but almost any pattern or color works for me. I don't know what sizes you have, but probably larger than a couple inches square is better for quilts.
Let me know what you want me to do (I'll do ANYTHING :bowtome: )
Grenwich April 21st, 2004, 11:39 AM I'd be interested in the brocades, velvets, silks and wools, any colors.
Muslin scraps too, if any.
You let me know what you want....OR...I could make you a doll.

Heidi,
As an organizing consultant, I am so proud of you (((((hugs))))). It's so hard to let go of things. But this will be a good thing for you, and whomever you barter with. Spring is such a good time to purge :wethree:
I find a lot of crafters are also hoarders. I think it falls naturally from having a resourseful personality. They are some of my best customers!
Heidi April 21st, 2004, 12:22 PM Aww, Jaynyne, thanks! I used to be worse--but I feel terrible tossing garbage bags full of beautiful fabric! I'm so happy to have folks to share them with! It will be so nice to get that room cleaned out!
Lexy--anything, eh? ;) I have some cotton scraps that sound like they might be right up your alley! I wish I had the time to quilt!
Grenwich, trading a bag of scraps for a doll is out of the question! I'll gladly send you some scraps, and I'd love a doll, but that's just not an equal exchange. What's your style of dress? Or is there a garment you've always wanted made for you? I'm making one of those white cotton Victorian nightgowns for another forumite in exchange for a handmade book. I'd love a mythological figure doll...
I'll go through my bags this weekend and put some small boxes together. Yay!
ossiander April 21st, 2004, 01:37 PM Me Me Me!!!! I could use some. I mainly quilt. That word just does not look right, oh well.
Heidi April 21st, 2004, 01:50 PM Ossiander, what sorts of fabric do you usually use?
ossiander April 22nd, 2004, 12:40 PM Right now I am playing with mostly cotten stuff. But I would use most anything.
Rain April 23rd, 2004, 06:28 PM I sew, I love velvet, and if you have any left, I'm not too proud to beg! I like rich jewel tones and bright colors but I have little girls so I can work with pastels, too -- any colors, really. I don't know that I have anything to barter but I can come up with shipping. Ooh, and I'm interested in silk scraps if you have any left, to make into hair ribbons and things like that. :flower:
