I couldn't decide, so I bought them both. I really can't tell the difference. They are both really nice. One problem though, I ordered samples from Jane Iredale, and the color "Natural" was a perfect match. When I received my minerals the color was not the same as the sample, really much, much darker. Quite tan. I don't know if the sample was wrong, or if the full sized product I ordered was labeled wrong. The sample said it was pressed, but I ordered loose, but that shouldn't make a difference. I wonder if I should complain to Jane Iredales who probably labeled it wrong, or the store I bought it from on the net. Maybe I'll just keep it so I look tan this summer.

The Jane Iredale pressed and loose powders are NOT the same color. The pressed minerals are approximately 2 shades lighter than the loose version with the same name--this is due to additives that keep the powder pressed. I love the Iredale products! Especially the lipsticks. :D

I complained to Iredale and that is what they told me. I would think they should warn customers ahead of time. But the product is just so great, I will buy more in the future anyway! It does give my a glowing, rich tan look anyway. Sometimes I prefer a pale porcelain look though.

I was just going to ask you if you had decided to keep it or not. :) I'm still trying to decide whether I want to try the JI minerals...I think I probably will... ::ponderponder::

I know that WTF? will be selling Jane Iredale foundation samples sometime soon for $6 each. That way, you can try several colors before you make a color selection. http://www.whosthefairest.com/
I usually order Jane Iredale from

I think you should get what you want. By the way, what's the spf for JE?
March 19th, 2003, 06:36 PM
Anne, The SPF for Jane Ireland is l7 for the pressed powder and 20 for the loose. The pressed powder samples were slightly silkier feeling because of some extra ingredients but a little more sheer than the loose.

OH! I forgot to mention, skindeepiii.com will send you free samples of Iredale pressed powders. When you click on Iredale on the left, click again on samples on the left also. Fill in info. and ask for samples in cool or warm in the message area. Also, search for Jane Iredale on the net because prices vary hugely, anywhere from $28. to $48. for same product. I used Dermstore for both Bare escentuals and Jane Iredale. Prices and service were excellent!

Use your Bare Escentuals and don't look back! I've been using this line off of QVC for the past three-four years and I LOVE it!
